Lazar Epstein

Lazar Epshtein (1923 – 1942) was arrested in April 30, 1941.

He was accused of counter-revolutionary activity that he started straight after the soviet rezime was established. "Estonian national guards", a counter-revolutionary group of senior school pupils, was founded. The task of this group was said to be, as follows:

to organize an armed riot in the rear and overthrow the soviet rezime in Estonia at the moment of capitalist countries' attack on the Soviet Union.

The leader of the group paid his life for any violation of conspiracy rules.

Epshtein was an 8-person group leader. He taught classes on the topic "Communism and democracy" giving the counter-revolutionary point of view.

Lazar Epshtein was shot in Solikamsk on the 14th of June, 1942. The fact was registered by 3 NKVD men.
